The Witcher 4 Already in Beta? This Tempting Invitation Is a Scam

The Witcher 4 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of the coming years. Even if CD Projekt's title can't compete with GTA 6, the excitement among players is real. Just take a look at the number of views of The Witcher 4 trailer (4.4 million) unveiled at The Game Awards 2024 to be convinced.

However, the public must understand that this new adventure set in the universe created by Andrzej Sapkowski will not arrive anytime soon. The Witcher 4 is only at the beginning of its development. There is therefore no beta phase, as CD Projekt is forced to point out following the spread of misleading invitations.

No, The Witcher 4 is absolutely not in beta phase

A fake invitation for a beta phase of The Witcher 4 has been circulating for several days. It appears to have been created by an Instagram account pretending to be the official page of the CD Projekt game. Aware of the danger to which players are exposed, the Polish studio has decided to react.

"Some members of the community have reported to us that they had been invited to a beta test of The Witcher 4. This is a scam! We have taken the necessary steps to stop these fraudulent messages. That said, if you receive invitations or come across information about one of them, we ask that you report the scam to using the tools available in your email client or on the social media platform you use," reads the official account of The Witcher.

If you see this fake invitation or another one, do not take it into account and especially do not click on the embedded links if they contain any. CD Projekt assures that it will keep its community informed if it organizes beta phases in the future. Note, however, that it is rather rare for an exclusively single-player game to open a beta test phase. Obviously, the Polish studio still has plenty of time to surprise us with multiplayer features in The Witcher 4, even if it seems unlikely.

Remember that Ciri will be the main character of this epic. Geralt's adopted daughter is particularly bullied by the population in the game's first trailer released in December. Narrative director Philipp Weber revealed that the sexism experienced by Ciri would be one of the themes of The Witcher 4. CD Projekt's new RPG won't be released until 2027.
