This Xbox update brings some highly anticipated new features

The American company with the green controller isn't slowing down. Recently, a new batch of features has arrived on the Xbox ecosystem, reinforcing an ambition already well-established by the brand: to make video games accessible everywhere, all the time, and on almost any device. As evidenced by its slogan, Everything is an Xbox.

The mobile app is finally truly complete

Microsoft is starting with a small revolution on mobile. The Xbox app on smartphones is evolving, and now offers the ability to purchase games, join Xbox Game Pass, or directly enjoy its benefits. The feature, already available to some testers on Android and iOS, should soon be available to the general public. No more detours via the console or the official website to make purchases. Payment methods already saved will be automatically taken into account in the app.

But the new features don't stop there. Xbox is finally expanding its streaming options. The feature Game streaming technology – first introduced via connected TVs and browsers – is now rolling out to Xbox consoles themselves. This allows Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to play titles from their own library directly in the cloud. No installation is required. To get started, just follow these simple steps shared by Xbox:

  • Go to My games & apps > Full library > Owned games
  • Supported games will display a cloud icon
  • Use the filter: Filter > Ready to Play > Cloud Gaming
  • Select the game, then choose Play via Cloud

Remote Play Evolves

When it comes to remote play, a very practical feature for Xbox gamers, the boundaries continue to disappear. It is now possible to play your Xbox console away from home from almost anything: a mobile phone, a browser, a tablet, a PC, a Samsung smart TV, a Fire TV, or even a Meta Quest headset. Better still: backward-compatible Xbox and Xbox 360 games are also joining the party via the Remote Play option.

Under these announcements, Microsoft is implementing the same watchword: flexibility. Xbox is pushing its model even further, focusing on fluidity between media, remote accessibility, and an ever-richer digital experience.
