It took seven months after the official release of Android 15. Samsung's new system is finally starting to arrive on older high-end smartphones.
Software updates remain a sensitive topic for Android smartphone users. While some manufacturers provide rapid updates, others take longer to integrate new system features. At Samsung, delivery times can vary depending on the model and region, even for the most recent devices. Every update is eagerly awaited, especially when it concerns a major version like Android 15.
This April 7, 2025, Samsung finally begins rolling out the stable version of One UI 7, its in-house interface based on Android 15. The launch begins in South Korea, first on the Galaxy S24 range. It also concerns the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The rollout is underway in several countries, including Europe, while the United States and Canada will have to wait a few more days. Users who have already installed the beta version are the first to receive the update.
The One UI 7 update is coming first to the Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6
The update weighs several gigabytes depending on the device and configuration. The build number for the Galaxy S24 in Korea is S928NKSU4BYCG. Other models are also planned for the next wave of deployment: Galaxy S23, S23 FE, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, as well as the Galaxy Tab S9 and S10 tablets. No specific date has been given for these devices yet, but Samsung promises a gradual rollout in the coming weeks.
One UI 7 brings a visual overhaul with more colorful icons, tile-like widgets, and better menu organization. Samsung is also introducing the "Now Bar," a feature reminiscent of the Dynamic Island on iPhone, displaying real-time information such as a route or sports score. The drop-down menu is now split into two areas: notifications on the left, quick settings on the right. Finally, the Always On Display is becoming more customizable, and Galaxy AI, Samsung's smart assistant, is always present. To check if the update is available, simply go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
