It's a niche genre and at the same time, it attracts a lot of players. Horror will soon welcome a new title that makes us shiver in advance just with its teaser! It presents itself as the second production of a promising French studio, whose members already have significant experience on large-scale projects. Discover the first images with us. It already looks brutal.
A future must-have horror game?
The first game from the Lyon-based Obelisk Studio was released for Halloween in 2023. Entitled Ghostland Yard, it hadn't attracted much attention. However, it seduced those who tried it with its adorable ghost moving from platform to platform. The review was "very positive" on Steam. Given its 2D style and its very cute artistic direction, imagine our surprise when discovering the violent and visceral Displacement.
Obelisk Studio unveiled its second game currently in development last night. The Lyonnais immediately announced their colors! Displacement promises a sensational entry into a dark and cryptic universe. You play as Arthur Bishop, a psychologist who is about to face his worst nightmares in the heart of a station lost in the middle of winter.
"Ultraviolent", "Brutal", these are the qualifiers that accompany the teaser of Displacement. The images already give a taste of it. Between the bloody settings, where bodies can pile up, and the terrifying enemies ready to fall on you... horror will certainly be there. Expect to very heavy!
Displacement will hit hard
To summarize, Displacement will be a first-person horror action game for even more impressive immersion. The gameplay will focus on melee combat, with several weapons — around twenty — to layout that can be borrowed directly from your environment. Prepare yourself, because you'll need to keep your cool to overcome the bumps.
With its team's experience on titles like Sons of the Forest and Far Cry 6, as well as the Love, Death & Robots series, Obelisk intends to make a lasting impression. Displacement does not have a release date at the moment. However, the game is about to reach the validation phase of the vertical slice of its alpha. This is a crucial step in its development. To support the project, the studio is already inviting players to add it to their wishlist on Steam, a detail which guarantees a at least PC release.
