A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: GOT spin-off won't be released in 2025

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: GOT spin-off won't be released in 2025

Fans of Game of Thrones had to mourn a little after eight seasons rich in emotion and powerful moments despite a controversial finale. Fortunately, the spin-off House of the Dragon has been bringing them their dose of conspiracy and fantasy since August 2022.

Season 3 of House of the Dragon is expected to be released in 2026. The spin-off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight was supposed to arrive this year. Bad news for viewers, we'll also have to wait until 2026 to see the program.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight delayed to early 2026

The often well-informed media outlet Deadline reports that the release of the Game of Thrones spin-off called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight has been postponed to 2026. Casey Bloys, president and CEO of HBO and Max Content, reportedly made the announcement at a Warner Bros. Discovery meeting.

The adaptation of the first of George R.R. Martin's three Tales of Dunk and Egg novels was scheduled for release on Max in late 2025. We'll have to wait until early next year to see the spin-off.

As a reminder, the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdomswill have six episodes. It will cover the events of the first book of Tales of Dunk and Egg, The Hedge Knight. The story takes place 72 years before House of the Dragon and a century before Game of Thrones. The series follows the adventures of a rather naive knight named Dunk, aka Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire Egg. The Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne.

Irish actor Peter Claffey plays Ser Duncan the Tall, while his squire is played by the young Dexter Sol Ansell. "You will be impressed by Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell as Dunk and Egg, the two protagonists. So much so that we're already planning how we're going to build this series for the three seasons in total," Francesca Orsi, head of HBO drama, said earlier this year.

The Game of Thrones spin-off about Jon Snow will ultimately not see the light of day, for lack of finding an interesting story to tell.
