Lady Whistledown has some very good news for fans of Bridgerton. While filming for the fourth season continues, Netflix has taken to social media to officially announce the release date for the next episodes. Viewers will be treated to the adaptation of the novel about Benedict Bridgerton and a stranger he meets at a ball in 2026. This will likely come as no surprise to viewers who have already had to wait two years between previous episodes. Bridgerton continues to be a priority for the streaming giant, which has already released a spin-off about Queen Charlotte.
But as good news never comes alone, the platform also confirmed that the next novels in the series will be shown on the small screen. Seasons 5 and 6 are officially in development. In her letter, the author, whose identity is no longer a secret, invites her dear readers to make arrangements to celebrate the news properly. However, she does not specify which of the Bridgerton children will be at the epicenter of the next seasons.
Eloise and Francesca take center stage?
Julia Quinn's literary saga adopts a fairly simple starting premise. Each novel focuses on one of the children of the Bridgerton family, from Daphne to Gregory, including Anthony, Colin, and Eloise. While the series followed the plot of the novels in these first two seasons, it confounded expectations by rushing the adaptation of the novel illustrating the story of Colin and Penelope. Season 4 will thus be the opportunity to discover the romance of the youngest of the siblings. Seasons 5 and 6 should logically be about Eloise and her younger sister Francesca. The latter is already married and the former has left her family to travel the world. We can imagine that their journey will be explored in depth in season 4 to prepare for the arrival of their suitors.
The answer will probably be in 2028... unless the official announcement of the next two seasons allows Netflix to accelerate the pace to shoot the two series in a row and encourage a return of the series every year. It must be said that there is a lot to do; the saga includes eight novels and numerous sequels and prequels. Netflix has not yet decided to adapt these derivative works, The Rokesby Chronicle or The Smythe-Smith Quartet, but could want to multiply the entries in this fantasy Regency era. In the meantime, Netflix plans to reveal more very soon with its TUDUM event scheduled for Saturday, May 31.
