A PS5 and Xbox Series X/S update for Red Dead Redemption II is expected for the end of the year

While GTA6 has been officially delayed to May 26, 2026 (whereas it was supposed to arrive at the end of the year), Rockstar Games might have a lot of things planned to keep us busy. A few days ago, we learned that a port of GTA4 was expected for the end of the year.

Today, we learned that a next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption II on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S would also be in the pipeline, in addition to the Switch 2 version.

The return of the best game of the PS4/One generation in 2025?

Last night, during Take Two Interactive's quarterly review, we learned that Red Dead Redemption II had just sold 74 million copies since its release on PS4 and Xbox One in October 2018. We then wondered when the next-gen version could arrive in order to sell a few million more copies and allow the game to enter the top 5 best-selling video games in history?

According to new sources, in According to media source Gamereactor, the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch2 versions of Red Dead Redemption II are all three expected later this year.

This isn't the first time that PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Red Dead Redemption II have been in the news. As early as 2020, it was the media Rockstar Mag’ which confirmed that a port was already in the pipeline.

In September 2023, during the big leak that affected Microsoft, we discovered the existence of this next-gen version in Game Pass documents which confirmed that Microsoft and Take Two had discussions to release this new version of Red Dead Redemption II "Day One" in Game Pass.

Between these numerous rumors, and the rumors concerning the Switch2 version, there is therefore a growing chance of seeing a re-release of John Marston's adventures in the coming months.
