Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake seems to be confirmed again thanks to Ubisoft

Twelve years after its release, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag continues to be talked about. And for good reason: a recent message published on the X (formerly Twitter) account of Assassin’s Creed UK has caused confusion in the fan community, already excited by the idea of a remake, which has been mentioned several times in recent years.

A simple wink… or a disguised teaser for Assassin's Creed Black Flag?

The message in question contains nothing overtly explicit. It simply rides on an old trend on the platform, now largely outdated. Yet, the fact that Ubisoft would specifically choose Assassin's Creed Black Flag to relaunch this type of publication is not insignificant. This choice raises questions, especially in a context where rumors surrounding a remake of the famous pirate episode have been multiplying for quite some time.

From a purely marketing perspective, it would be surprising if such a post were nothing more than a simple nostalgic tribute. Community managers are often the first relays for viral communication campaigns, and this type of publication, at once mysterious, retroactive, and engaging, strongly resembles a first step in a ramp-up of announcements.

A remake already anticipated

This isn't the first time Assassin's Creed Black Flag has been in the news. Ubisoft confirmed several months ago that several remakes of older installments in the Assassin's Creed saga were currently in development. While no title has been officially mentioned, many concordant sources are suggesting a major overhaul of Black Flag, which is still among the top favorite episodes of players, alongside Assassin’s Creed II, Brotherhood, and Odyssey.

The potential is obvious: an open world at sea, spectacular naval battles, a pirate atmosphere rare in mainstream video games... All of this clearly deserves an update, especially after the mixed success of Skull and Bones, which many have compared, sometimes wrongly, to Black Flag. One question remains: Is Ubisoft playing the clever teaser card or is it simply feeding nostalgia, taking advantage of fans’ anticipation?
