Three years after the release of Avatar: The Way of Water, fans of science fiction and James Cameron's saga are getting ready to discover the third installment of the Sully family's adventures, in Avatar: Fire and Ash. Good news, as the second official image has just been unveiled!
Avatar 3: Rage in Images
In 2009, director James Cameron once again revolutionized blockbuster cinema with Avatar. Visually stunning, this reinterpretation of the myth of Pocahontas was a cinematic triumph, becoming the biggest hit in world cinema. Thirteen years later, audiences were able to discover the second of the five planned films: Avatar: The Way of Water. The feature film, which was very generous, managed to go even further in visual mastery; the second film also won the support of the public, who came out in droves to see it in theaters, allowing it to become the third biggest success of all time. To say that Avatar: Fire and Ash is anticipated is therefore an understatement. The third installment of the Sully family's adventures could well break the record for the highest-grossing film of 2025. Little is known about this third installment, except that it will be much darker than the first two films; The Sullys will find refuge with the Ash People, Na'vi who are far more brutal than the other populations of the moon Pandora. James Cameron also revealed that his new film made his wife cry. We've been warned!
Empire magazine, which has secured an exclusive deal from Disney to obtain information on Avatar: Fire and Ash throughout 2025, has just unveiled the second official image from the third Avatar film. It shows the character of Neytiri, still played by Zoe SaldaƱa - recently Oscar-winning for her role in Jacques Audiard's film Emilia Perez -, stringing a bow. The mother of the Sully family has blood on her face and appears full of anger. It is unknown if this image is from an opening or closing scene of Avatar: Fire and Ash, but it seems to particularly well illustrate the tone of the upcoming film. We also explained to you the reason why it seemed to confirm a theory that risks shocking long-time fans. In the meantime, we'll have to be very vigilant; the Disney group should probably unveil the first trailer for the feature film in the coming weeks, possibly between mid-May and the end of June. Disney could thus take advantage of the big summer blockbusters, including 28 Years Later, Superman and Fantastic Four to release the trailer in theaters.
In any case, we can't wait to see what the third Avatar film will be like. And what do you think? Don't hesitate to tell us in the comments section.
