With its gameplay offering enormous freedom, Baldur's Gate 3 is brimming with methods to achieve one's goals, both in combat and elsewhere. The latest Patch 8 of Larian Studios' masterpiece has added even more options for creative players to break the game with its new subclasses. In this case, it's an "exploitation" of a bug allowing one to enrich oneself in a way that is as devious as it is inventive.
Occult Enrichment with a New Feature in Patch 8 of Baldur's Gate 3
Generally, getting rich easily in Baldur's Gate 3 involves a Thief who is particularly effective at pickpocketing, and a little help from the rest of the party to distract the surrounding NPCs. That, or slaughter everyone and take their belongings. With Patch 8, players have found an even more effective way to rob their neighbors. This involves the new occultist subclass, the Cursed Blade. The main mechanic of this new Baldur's Gate 3 subclass is to bind a weapon to your character to gain various powers. Among them, the ability to resummon it to your inventory. Thus, it is possible to sell it to a merchant, exchange various items of equivalent value, return it to your inventory, and repeat the procedure. This is, of course, a bug exploit, but it must be recognized that the idea is as effective as it is well thought out.
It remains to be seen, however, whether Larian Studios intends to let the occultists scam their world in peace, or whether a future update will correct this. Even though the studio is now focused on developing its next two games, which are expected to be "extremely ambitious," it will continue to support Baldur's Gate 3 with corrective updates, should the need arise. Whether abusing the Cursed Blade's powers in this way is on their radar or not, time will tell.
