Andor: This spin-off is the only one Diego Luna would accept

Andor: This spin-off is the only one Diego Luna would accept

Andor has been reduced from 5 to 2 seasons by Disney, but could this shortfall for Star Wars fans be compensated by the creation of other spin-offs? Diego Luna and Adria Arjona, who play Cassian Andor and Bix Caleen, already have an idea of the story they would like to see on screen, and it's the only one they would agree to film.

An Andor spin-off coming to Disney+ soon?

Given the enthusiasm of Star Wars fans for this series, which explores Cassian Andor's life during the years leading up to the tragic events of Rogue One, it's not unthinkable that Disney will seek to produce other spin-offs. However, don't count on Tony Gilroy, the series' showrunner, who has clearly expressed his desire to explore new horizons. On the other hand, Diego Luna and Adria Arjona, who play Cassian Andor and Bix Caleen, told The Hollywood Reporter that they were willing to shoot a story - but not just any story.

I would love to tell the story of these two characters during the year we don't see between the first and second seasons... That moment in history in a galaxy far, far away is the darkest, and having the opportunity to see a love story and build a love story could be so beautiful and so unique. And it's cheaper too!

A "low-cost" spin-off, but would the audience be there?

As Diego Luna points out, after the colossal budget of Andor (season 1 cost $250 million, season 2 between $300 and $400), Disney should return to more reasonable budgets. A love story is cheaper to stage than the galactic adventures of a pilot serving in the Rebel Alliance. But could this love story interest viewers? Exploring the consequences of Bix's trauma after his time in the hands of the Empire and his reconstruction on Mina-Rau could certainly be done, but Star Wars has never been a franchise centered on love, and there is little chance that Disney would approve such a spin-off.
