A few days before Computex, the major Taiwanese trade show dedicated to computing and new technologies, Acer is unveiling some of the new products that the manufacturer will be presenting further next week. Among them: the FreeSense Ring, a connected ring designed to measure several biological metrics.
Acer wants to put a ring on your finger
The ring will be able to measure heart rate and variability, blood oxygen levels, and sleep quality. Of course, all this information will be accessible in the companion mobile app. The nice surprise here is that Acer will not require an additional subscription, like Samsung (although the idea is still in the air). At Oura, a subscription is almost mandatory to unlock all the information.
"Users also have full access to all health data without additional subscription fees, making the FreeSense Ring a practical and reliable companion for everyday wellness," boasts Acer. Once in possession of all this data, the app offers personalized insights on the user's well-being and health, with recommendations for improvement.
The FreeSense Ring is certified 5 ATM waterproof, which means it can be worn in the shower or for swimming, but it's probably not suitable for diving. The ring, made of an ultra-light titanium alloy, weighs between 2 and 3 grams. It comes in two colors (rose gold or black). Acer hasn't revealed a price or launch date (yet).
