2025 is shaping up to be a great year for video games. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Monster Hunter: Wilds, Kingdom Come Deliverance II, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Doom: The Dark Ages, Ghost of Yōtei, a year already being touted as a great vintage. And with the Switch 2 coming out in a few weeks, and bank accounts having ever more reasons to be emptied, here's a PC game that becomes free for a few days before leaving Steam for good.

For reasons X or Y, games sometimes leave Steam permanently. However, when they are present in a player's library, they remain playable. Even if the game is no longer visible on the Steam store, as soon as it is visible in your library, it can be launched. In a Steam post, Jo and Devin of Anything Nose Productions, behind the development and publishing of the game, announced the studio's closure. "We are very sad to announce that Anything Nose is no longer able to continue operations. Our next game, Diacritic, is unfortunately canceled. The store page and demo will be removed in the near future." the duo explained. "We are also sad to announce that Mouthole will soon be removed from Steam."
"In the meantime, we've made Mouthole and its soundtrack available for free on Steam! They will remain free until they are removed, so add them to your library while you can. After their removal from Steam, they will remain available, for free and hopefully in perpetuity, on Itch and Bandcamp respectively." Although removed from Steam soon, MOUTHOLE should remain available on Itch and Bandcamp.
But what exactly is MOUTHOLE? MOUTHOLE is an adventure game set in a psychospheric world. It's up to you to solve puzzles and unravel mysteries, all while trying to uncover the secrets of this unusual house. In total, MOUTHOLE has 11 endings, over 1,000 lines of dialogue, fully playable musical instruments, and a slightly bizarre tone. Despite everything, the concept seems to be taking off: 97% of reviews are positive.
The easiest thing to do is to make up your own mind. Especially since MOUTHOLE isn't an extremely long game, a few hours at most. For those who don't like English, the game is only available in English. It's possible that one day, a dedicated fan will offer a home translation, but that hasn't happened yet.
