Buffy: A colossal announcement has been made for the new series

Like it or not, Buffy the Vampire Slayer will indeed be back on the small screen. More than 20 years after its end on M6 in France. After 7 seasons, the slayer has indeed said her goodbyes. Or at least what we thought were goodbyes at the time. Like films and series of that era, such as Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer in which Sarah Michelle Gellar starred, the cult TV show by Joss Whedon (Firefly, Avengers) is returning.

A huge announcement for the casting of the Buffy reboot

After having confided that there was "no need for a reboot", Sarah Michelle Gellar's speech on a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer series has changed completely. "Watching Sex and the City [the series' sequel, And Just Like That] and Dexter, and realizing that there are ways to do it, finally makes me say 'Maybe,'" she had declared. Finally, the actress was convinced by this project, which seems to be receiving particular attention. And this is only normal given the status of one of the most cult series of all time acquired by the first version of Buffy.

This Buffy reboot will feature its lead actress, and she won't be alone. A huge announcement has been made for the new series. The next vampire slayer was revealed by Sarah Michelle Gellar herself on Instagram. The role has been given to young Ryan Kiera Armstrong, seen in the Disney+ series Skeleton Crew, Black Widow, Firestarter, and in season 10's Double Feature of American Horror Story.

Ryan Kiera Armstrong is the new vampire slayer

"This is Ryan Kiera Armstrong. As soon as I saw Ryan's audition, I knew there was only one girl I wanted by my side. To have such emotional intelligence and talent at such a young age is truly a gift. As a bonus, her smile lights up even the darkest room. Welcome to the new Sunnydale." Ryan Kiera Armstrong will therefore be the future slayer in the new Buffy series, while Sarah Michelle Gellar will apparently be her mentor. "I am so honored, thank you for trusting me," the actress replied in tears.

Lilla and Nora Zuckerman, the writers of this Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, also reacted to the announcement. "We are thrilled to have found this generation's slayer in Ryan Kiera Armstrong. She has absolutely blown us away - there is no doubt in our minds that she is the one ." As a reminder, this series will be directed by ChloƩ Zao, the director of the Marvel film The Eternals and Oscar-winning director for Nomadland.
