Buying clothes on Google without getting the wrong size is about to get a lot easier

Buying clothes on Google without getting the wrong size is about to get a lot easier

During its developer conference, IO2025, Google presented a feature that should be of interest to both e-commerce professionals and online clothing buyers. Try it on, or try it on in French, allows you to remotely try on an item of clothing directly from Google Shopping.

How does it work?

The feature is detailed in a blog post published that same evening. And it's quite simple to explain.

Once the feature is rolled out, a new button will appear directly on the clothing photos in Google Shopping. There, you'll be asked to upload a photo of yourself where your entire body is visible. Google specifies that the lighting must be good and that you're wearing clothes that fit you to get the best results. Then, in a few moments, here are the two photos combined into one of you wearing the targeted item of clothing.

Once this is done, a gallery will appear below offering you other similar styles, and therefore other potential purchases for the Google platform. Pretty clever.

Try it on availability

Unfortunately, at this stage, the feature is only available on the Search Labs service, which is itself reserved for the US. This will allow Google to iron out bugs before a wider rollout to the general public.
