ChatGPT attracts professionals: 32% of US companies use OpenAI, far ahead of Google and Anthropic

Since the arrival of ChatGPT on November 30, 2022, the artificial intelligence market has continued to grow impressively... With competitors emerging very quickly, including Google Gemini, Claude from Anthropic, and Mistral in France, some companies have already integrated AI into their working methods.

However, given the tidal wave that OpenAI has managed to cause in the field of AI, it would seem that this is working in its favor. Once again, the company led by Sam Altman is showing record usage...

Massive use of OpenAI among individuals... and professionals

In recent weeks, OpenAI has made numerous statements about the use of ChatGPT, its most popular solution currently. With more than 800 million users according to the company's latest figures, the solution would even be used by one in ten people in the world if we are to believe Sam Altman's Ted conference.

Nevertheless, a new study by Ramp, an American company specializing in financial technology (or "fintech"), companies would also be concerned by this massive use of artificial intelligence.

But if we could suspect a gradual use of AI tools among professionals, it would seem that OpenAI is still the big winner among all the competitors...

32.4% of American companies use OpenAI

In order to base themselves on the most credible information possible, Ramp is based primarily on transaction data from companies in the United States. In the company's latest figures from April, 32.4% of companies pay for OpenAI services.

Whether with ChatGPT, directly via the OpenAI API, or the company's other products, this figure would even be up 18.9% when compared to January 2025.

And if this increasing figure is already a first indication, Ramp's analysis could worry competitors...

Faster progress for OpenAI

Although not all American companies have chosen OpenAI to use artificial intelligence, an article published on the Ramp website shows a much faster progression. For comparison, 8% of companies were using Anthropic in April 2025, compared to only 4.6% last January.

Worse still, on the Google Gemini side, the figures fell to only 0.1% in April compared to 2.3% last February. While these figures could change in the coming months, depending on the developments of OpenAI's competitors, the trend remains in favor of the company today...
