The DanDaDan phenomenon is about to make a comeback. After a remarkable first season, which ended last December, the Japanese anime made its mark and left viewers wanting more, with a cliffhanger-like conclusion: Momo, her childhood friend, and Okarun, who have come to exorcise Jiji's parents' house, find themselves in dire straits. The former, in a hot springs bath, surrounded by men with rather dubious intentions, and the latter, upon discovering a secret and mysterious room in the house, haunted by a formidable demonic power, the Evil Eye.
The wait will finally be over, and in two different ways. Season 2, scheduled for July, is now dated for July 3rd and will air on Netflix, Crunchyroll, and ADN. But in the case of DanDaDan, one piece of good news hides another, as the first three episodes of season 2 will be shown on the big screen on June 7 and 8 in the form of a film, DanDaDan: Evil Eye.
A special screening at the Grand Rex on June 7
This release will be national and the film will be shown in several CGR cinemas, following the partnership between CGR Events and the ADN platform. DanDaDan: Evil Eye will last 93 minutes and will have a special big screening on June 7 at the Grand Rex, with exclusive goodies being distributed on site. As seats are limited, if you want to live this experience at the Grand Rex, you shouldn't delay, as the ticket office has been open since April 29. For screenings in CGR cinemas, tickets will be available from May 6. We remind you that behind season 1 of DanDaDan, it is the studio Science SARU (Devilman Crybaby, Scott Pilgrim) which is in charge of animation and which will still be part of this season 2.
The trailer for this new season certainly makes you want to see it, with the announcement of a villain - the famous Evil Eye - the most powerful that Momo and Okarun have had to face so far. The few official images also show a visual preview of this antagonist, as well as his fight with Okarun, which promises to be particularly spectacular, and we also find the offbeat tone that made the success of the manga and the anime. It remains to be seen how many episodes this new season of DanDaDan will consist of—which still looks more like a season split into two parts—although it's safe to assume the number of episodes will remain the same. The definitive answer will be available on July 3rd on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and ADN, and the eagerly awaited first taster will be released in theaters on June 7th and 8th.
