Disneyland Paris: 8 attractions to avoid to avoid wasting your time

Since its opening on April 12, 1992, Disneyland Paris has evolved considerably. With the opening of restaurants, hotels, new areas, and therefore new attractions, the park has doubled its capacity. In total, no fewer than 53 attractions are now available to families during their stay. However, it's difficult to see everything in one weekend, especially when queues become involved. But among all the attractions, some are more dispensable than others, or even downright outdated. Enough to make us want to draw up a top 8 of the worst attractions, to save you time.

#8 Cars Road Trip

Cars Road Tripreplaced the old Studio Tram Tour attraction, which was in dire need of a refresh. But rather than creating a truly dynamic universe inspired by the brilliant car racing film, Disneyland simply rethemed the attraction, disguising the old elements to better fit Lightning McQueen's adventure. The ride on the rails is very slow, and you spend most of your time looking at the scenery without being jostled by the slightest effect, except for a water effect inherited from the old canyon. A real disappointment when you know the dynamism surrounding the license from which the attraction is inspired.

#7 Autopia

"Take a seat aboard your little racing car and speed through breathtaking scenery!" These are the terms in which Disneyland presents this attraction, which consists of a circuit made up of miniature cars that follow a guide rail. If in 1992, Autopia could make young people dream, 30 years later, the attraction is completely outdated, since there is no interaction, no music, nor practical effects. It is simply a matter of following a marked route without being able to really control the car. Several spectators have complained about the smell (the cars run on gasoline) and the noise.

#6 Rustler Roundup Shootin' Gallery

Located in Frontierland, this shooting range offers you a stop between several rides and shooting at targets placed in a western-style setting. The problem is that the attraction is not free, and requires you to pay 3 euros to play sniper. Furthermore, you must have the correct change. The guns do not contain dummy bullets, but are equipped with an infrared beam, making the experience much less impactful.

It's more of a funfair game than a real attraction (which is what the park is promoting). And for good reason, the stand hasn't changed since it opened in 1992. It's therefore a rather dusty and very rigid setting that stands before the public, with no storyline, and no line of characters to shoot down or avoid. In short, a game left abandoned.

#5 The Mysteries of the Nautilus

Opened in 1994, this attraction allows you to visit Captain Nemo's submersible, imagined by Jules Verne in his novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, adapted by Disney into a film in 1954. The session offers a walking tour to visit the six rooms of the submarine. But the wonder quickly gives way to boredom: no narration, no interaction with the scenery, dated visuals, and no immersive music. The attraction (which isn't really one) has regularly suffered breakdowns since its introduction (notably the Calamari scene), and suffers from its proximity to Space Mountain.

#4 The Pirate Galleon

Adventureland is full of spaced-out and fairly empty areas. This is the case, for example, with the useless Robinson Cabin but also the imposing Pirate Galleon. Presented on the website as an attraction, this imposing monument has something to make youngsters salivate on paper. Yet, once inside, it's a cold shower. A simple visitable set (or even a static play area for the more imaginative) without cannons, characters, or pirate equipment. An empty area with damaged paint and masts blackened by dirt.

#3 The Flying Carpets

Just like Dumbo or Orbiton, The Flying Carpets are supposed to represent the world of Aladdin. But we quickly become disillusioned by the decor, which is sorely lacking in references to the famous 1992 cartoon. This circular attraction requires you to operate a lever to raise or lower the cabin, during the (short) 1 minute 30 of experience. In short, the magic is not there.

#2 The Sleeping Beauty Gallery

Just like the Nautilus, the Sleeping Beauty Gallery is a decor without real immersion. Composed of stained-glass windows, tapestries, and small items related to the film, the gallery offers no interaction for its visitors. A shame for a world as magical as that of Sleeping Beauty. Especially since it is located inside the castle, the park's emblem. A 5-minute visit that can feel like a real waste of time.

#1 Pinocchio's Travels

Pinocchio's Travels is one of the park's classic dark rides (a scenic and narrative journey filled with animations, characters, lighting effects, sounds, and other special effects, all set to music). Opened in 1992, the attraction suffers from comparison with more modern attractions such as Ratatouille or Peter Pan, which was renovated in 2015. Dated, the experience can even become distressing for children, due to the lack of markers. "happy," and conversely very dark colors, noisy scenes, frozen and disturbing animatronics, and very outdated effects. The visual transformations of children into donkeys can traumatize the little ones. A real renovation of the attraction is necessary, as is that of the austere atmosphere that reigns there.
