On Tuesday, May 20, Disney Studios finally unveiled the first trailer for Zootopia 2, scheduled for release on November 26, 2026. This animated film is all the more eagerly awaited given that the first Zootopia had surpassed $1 billion at the box office. The first teaser, completely silent, is incredibly effective. Although it doesn't feature any scenes from the film, it nevertheless allows us to understand several elements of it. Here are the XX things to remember!
#1 Nick and Judy will accompany a new character
In the first Zootopia film, audiences were introduced to the fox Nick and the rabbit Judy. During their first adventures in the Zootopia police force, they had to learn to become a duo. In Zootopia 2, this dynamic will be disrupted by the arrival of Gary De'Snake, a snake played by the excellent Ke Huy Quan (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Everything Everywhere All At Once), who has just arrived in Zootopia. While the first elements of the film told us that Nick and Judy would follow the reptile's winding trail, the trailer for Zootopia 2 seems to indicate that the characters will this time form a trio; the heroes of the first film seem to protect Gary and help him escape the police. By trying to help Gary De'Snake, are Nick and Judy trying to fight against social injustice - the central theme of the first feature film? In any case, it could well be that our heroes will win the support of some of the inhabitants!
#3 The return of certain iconic characters
One of the many strong points of the first Zootopia film was its impressive cast of characters who were as endearing as they were hilarious.Good news, we'll see most of them again in the sequel: the godfather Mr. Big and his daughter, the police receptionist Benjamin Clawhauser, the singer Gazelle and her dancers, Flash, and even the former mayor Dawn Bellwether, still imprisoned, will be there! Moreover, new secondary characters will be appearing!
#4 New districts of Zootopia visited
The city of Zootopia has twelve districts, and the first film allowed us to visit six of them: Sahara Square, Tundratown, Rainforest District, Bunnyburrow, Downtown (Savanna Central), and Little Rodentia. The second film will reveal new districts, starting with Marsh Market, a swampy neighborhood where beavers and hippos live.
#5 A new charismatic antagonist
In addition to fleeing the police, Judy, Nick, and Gary will have to face a particularly mysterious antagonist.Draped in a cape that hides his face, we only see his eyes sparkling in the night, while his menacing shadow spreads across the ground. Very promising, this character is reminiscent of the Wolf in the excellent Puss in Boots 2 from DreamWorks studio.
