After the remake of It, HBO decided to delve into the past of the city of Derry by adapting the interludes from Stephen King's novel. These are excerpts from the journal of Mike Hanlon, who researches the history of the Maine city to discover the origins of the clown Pennywise. The series It: Welcome to Derry takes place in 1962, 27 years before the events that occur in the films directed by Andy Muschietti. We invite you to discover the trailer that has just been released as well as the 6 scariest moments.
#1 Anywhere but Derry
The trailer for Welcome to Derry plunges us directly into a very gloomy atmosphere and a heavy atmosphere.
The trailer begins with a sequence with a young hitchhiker who addresses to a couple who stop in their car and ask him where his parents live to bring him back safe and sound. It is then that the boy says: "I don't want to go back to Derry".
#2 Fishing in the river
A sequence shows a young boy fishing in a river with a child saying in the background "No adult will believe what we saw" then a shot with the underwater camera seems to show a head submerged in the river waterfollowed by another shot on the surface, in the distance, as if someone has just been pulled underwater.
#3 The policeman and the woman in the shop
The trailer offers us two shots of two rather disturbing characters, namely a police officer behind a glass door of the Derry police station waving his hand and a woman behind a shop window looking outside with, just like the police officer, her hand on the glass and the same smile that is reminiscent of Pennywise.
#4 Laughter in the pipes
Thanks to this sequence, we know that the clown from Çan's not very far away. A young girl says she heard laughter in the pipes, and we hear it when she approaches her sink. It must be Pennywise lurking in the city's sewers and pipes.
#5 The girl with the bloody face
One of the shots in this trailer that is more than terrifying is most certainly this shot of a young girl screaming with her face stained with blood. Stephen King's style is immediately recognizable.
#6 The appearance of Pennywise
Finally, the trailer ends with a brief shot in the sewers of the city of Derry in which we can easily recognize the silhouette of the clown Pennywise accompanied by his famous evil laugh. One thing is certain, It will be back and Bill Skaesgård will be back in his Pennywise costume.
