The second season of the anime adaptation of Solo Leveling concluded at the end of March. Dubbed Arise from the Shadow, this monumental second season placed Solo Leveling on a pedestal, to the point that a multitude of fans are now eagerly awaiting the sequel. The absence of a third season is difficult to imagine, especially since the clues sent by the decision-makers are pointing in the right direction. The proof is in a new statement from Crunchyroll.
Crunchyroll discusses Solo Leveling Season 3
The 78th Cannes Film Festival will be held from May 13th to 24th, 2025, at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes. The cream of the crop from both the big and small screens will be there, providing an opportunity to host numerous interviews and glean new information. Deadline had the opportunity to sit down with Mitchell Berger, Head of Theatrical & Distribution at Crunchyroll, to discuss, among other things, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Infinite Fortress, the Movie. But this interview was also the moment for Deadline to ask the anime streaming giant about the possible future of Solo Leveling. Crunchyroll is in charge of distributing Solo Leveling outside of Asia, the platform potentially has some juicy information to share.
No big revelations on the menu of this interview conducted at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, but Mitchel Berger wants to be reassuring: "We just finished season 2, which did very well for us, so I'm sure there will be more content in the future," he explains. "We don't know exactly when, but it will be there and fans will continue to see the story." A possible confirmation from Crunchyroll? Given the success of season 1, but especially season 2, the arrival of a season 3 seems undeniable. However, neither Crunchyroll nor A-1 Pictures has yet officially announced a third season for the anime adaptation of Solo Leveling.
A matter of weeks, or even months, surely. In any case, according to recent comments from Soto Furuhashi, producer at Aniplex, fans could wait until 2028 for this long-awaited season 3. "I think more than anyone I'm looking forward to a season 3!" he explained. "But in truth, between season 1 and season 2, 220,000 frames of animation were created. So, if it were up to me, I'd say we'll have to wait until the next Olympic Games (2028) to see what happens with a season 3."
After a first season in 2024, and a second season this year, fans of Solo Leveling might have to wait until 2028 to follow the anime adaptation of Sung Jinwoo's adventures. Nothing has been confirmed yet, so please be patient. A-1 Pictures will be sure to provide further information on this matter in due course.
