The year 2025 is not lacking in all kinds of game releases! Between AAA and indie games, there's plenty to do. Especially since amazing new releases are still being revealed. Get ready for an adventure as colorful as it is surprising, coming to Steam in a few months. It's called Dog Witch, and it should please roguelike fans.
Dog Witch, Steam's new curiosity
It must be said, roguelikes are particularly popular at the moment. Games of the genre continue to flood the market, while more and more new releases borrow mechanics to bring hybrid experiences to life. Balatro and Loop Hero are among the best recent examples. Others are following in her footsteps, like a certain Dog Witch!
Developed by one man, Andy Runyon (aka Heckmouse) and published by Mystic Forge, Dog Witch promises to be one of the new curiosities of the year. The concept already has something surprising about it, with gameplay that combines deckbuilding, dice rolls and... roguelike! Take part in short but strategic (and certainly chaotic) runs and gradually improve your build to reach the end of this unusual adventure.
Setting the tone, Dog Witch puts you in the shoes of a dog mistakenly humanized after an unfortunate experiment by a clumsy wizard. With your new powers, you will have to face a bestiaries of colorful enemies, from vengeful cats to Russian dolls. With over 150 items to use in combat, you're definitely not at the end of your surprises.
For the moment, Mystic Forge has not indicated a specific date. However, the publisher plans a release sometime in 2025. It has unveiled a first announcement trailer, inviting you at the same time to add Dog Witch to your wishlist on Steam. The game is, for now, only planned for PC. But if the public is there, the game would have the potential to be exported to other platforms.
