As Nintendo pushes firmware update 20.0.0 to all Nintendo Switch models, users are reporting bugs on some consoles. However, a new corrective update has just been pushed by the company.
We told you about it yesterday: Nintendo is launching a major firmware update for the Nintendo Switch. The software adds a number of new features to the interface of all console variants. The main theme is the integration of the new Nintendo Switch 2 into the Switch ecosystem. Unfortunately, a few days after the software's launch, many users are experiencing error codes.
In particular, code 2206-1015, leaving users who applied the update without a real solution. Nintendo has since apologized to its users, claiming to be working on a fix. And the company was quick to respond, even if this patch is not yet available to everyone in the dedicated menu. If you haven't yet upgraded to version 20.0.0, we recommend waiting a little longer before accepting an update.
What to do if you still installed a buggy Switch update
Nintendo should indeed push a patched update to all consoles instead of version 20.0.0. Fortunately, there is a solution if you are on firmware 20.0.0 and the error message still appears, with the (optional) patch stamped 20.0.1. Installing it is, however, more complex than going through the “Update” menu. Since you need to put the console in maintenance mode.
To install the patch (20.0.1) on a console already on firmware 20.0.0, follow these steps:
- Turn off your Nintendo Switch
- While holding down the Volume + and - buttons on the console, press the power button
- Do not release the volume buttons until the Maintenance mode message appears
- Then select Update System and follow the instructions to install firmware 20.0.1.
Warning: This operation requires knowing the device's parental PIN if it is set on your Nintendo Switch. This patch should fix all issues on most units. If you receive a different error message after installation, the company recommends contacting Nintendo directly for assistance.
