Even though Dragon Ball Super is currently on hiatus, Toyotaro isn't idle. On May 11, the mangaka appeared at Dragon Ball Super Divers - Super Dive Tour 2025, an event dedicated to the eponymous game, where he hosted a signing session allowing fans to leave with a never-before-seen illustration of Goku Ultra Instinct and Gohan Beast.
Dragon Ball: Between Successes and Failures
It will soon be 10 years since the manga Dragon Ball Super was published. More than a revival of the franchise created by Akira Toriyama, this event has strengthened its popularity. Dragon Ball has become a franchise that has far surpassed its source material to establish itself everywhere. Everything the franchise touches turns to gold, but it has also had its failures.
Dragon Ball Super Divers is the successor to Super Dragon Ball Heroes, a card game that was extremely popular. The transition between the two was very difficult for fans, who experienced it as a step backward. Indeed, Heroes offered the possibility of playing with new characters, which is no longer possible with Divers. As a result, the game is a failure. The Super Dive Tour 2025 is therefore an event aimed at getting the machine going again, and what better way to attract the public than to invite Toyotaro.
Toyotaro shares a new drawing of Goku Ultra Instinct and Gohan Beast
Toyotaro's presence at the event dedicated to Dragon Ball Super Divers raised a lot of hope among fans, who were hoping to get new information about DBS. This wasn't the case, but the mangaka still delighted the audience at his signing session, where attendees had the chance to receive an exclusive shikishi of Goku Ultra Instinct and Gohan Beast.
We can see once again with this drawing that Toyotaro is very talented, even if we can regret that he doesn't put more of his talent into manga. DBS is slow to come back. Of course, there was the prequel chapter of the Super Hero arc and the release of volume 24, but the silence surrounding the sequel is deafening. Information about the manga's return is scarce, which is all the more frustrating given that Toyotaro regularly shares new illustrations. We're excited about his drawings, of course, but we'd be even happier with the announcement of a new chapter. The future of DBS is very promising, and it would be a shame if the hype fizzled out.
