In our country, the biggest J-RPG is undoubtedly Final Fantasy. However, other big names are not lacking in popularity. Some have managed to earn a bigger place in the hearts of gamers in recent years. This is particularly the case for another Square Enix franchise whose next installment is long awaited. We're talking about Dragon Quest 12, of which Yujii Horii, the creator, finally has some news to give.
Plans are slowly becoming clearer for Dragon Quest 12
Against all expectations, the latest DQ has been a great success in the West. However, it is a remake of one of the first installments in the saga. This should be good news for the upcoming big episode, in preparation since 2019. But development was disrupted by the pandemic the following year, so we heard less and less about it.
We had a brief echo of the game from Yujii Horii last February, after long months of silence on the subject. We are therefore delighted to have news again these days, testifying to the still lively interest in the game despite the teams' discretion. In fact, it is to GameReactor that we owe a slight boost concerning Dragon Quest 12.
Our Danish colleagues had the opportunity to speak with Yuji Horii a few days ago during the Napoli Comicon. Journalist David Caballero asked for new details on the story and gameplay of Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate. However, the designer insisted in his response that he is dedicating himself to this installment but cannot say more. He only assures that this next installment will be " excellent ", urging patience.
Horii also mentioned a detail that could bode well for the future. Considering the imminent release of Nintendo's new console, he raises the possibility of compatibility with the Nintendo Switch 2. He does not specify whether he is talking about the franchise in general or Dragon Quest 12 in particular. However, it would be surprising if this installment ignored the already successful machine. We can therefore expect great things from this highly anticipated title!
