Next July, Fantastic Four will hit theaters to kick off Phase 6 of the MCU. Disney chose Pedro Pascal to play Reed Richards, but things could have been different because this star of the Harry Potter saga was very interested in the role of Mr. Fantastic.
Fantastic Four is coming to fans this summer
Marvel fans will be heading to theaters this summer to discover the beginning of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the film Fantastic Four: Beginnings directed by Josh Trank. The public will be able to find Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm played respectively by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The superhero team will have to face a new threat: Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds, who will be played by Ralph Ineson.
Mr. Fantastic could have been played by this Harry Potter actor
While the casting has long been known for Fantastic Four: First Steps, it seems that things could have been different if we are to believe this star of the Harry Potter saga, who has just revealed that he hoped to get the role that was given to the star of The Last of Us.
Indeed, David Tennant, who played Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005 and who also played the Tenth and Fourteenth Doctor in the series Doctor Who, responded to a fan that his favorite superhero was Reed Richards.
The 54-year-old actor explained that he had been interested in this role in the next Marvel film and although the production chose Pedro Pascal, David Tennant is not disappointed to have missed this opportunity:
When it comes to superheroes, I had my eye on Reed Richards and unfortunately, he It seems they've gone in a different direction. But if I had to choose someone, I'm glad it was Pedro Pascal.
Many actors like Rahul Kohli, Chris Abbott, and Jamie Dornan had auditioned or would have also wanted to play Reed Richards. Unfortunately, even though David Tennant would have been perfect for the role, for some fans, his time on Doctor Who made it difficult to see him in other roles.
Fantastic Four: Beginnings will be released on July 23. For the next film in Phase 6 of the MCU, we will have to wait until July 29, 2026, to see Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will finally be released before Avengers: Doomsday, which has had its release date pushed back from April 30 to December 16, 2026.
