Galaxy A56: One UI 7 update blocks some smartphones

Launched a few weeks ago, the Galaxy A56 was, following in the footsteps of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, one of the first Samsung smartphones to benefit from One UI 7. Unfortunately, the latest system update has not been without consequences for some users.

Indeed, several of them reported on the official forums that their device was stuck in a reboot loop (prosaically a bootloop) after installing the patch. Of course, not all users are affected. However, the bug seems widespread enough to have gathered a small community.

A minor update, a major bug

Deployed recently, this update was primarily aimed at integrating the May 2025 security patch, as well as a shortcut to launch the Gemini assistant by long-pressing the side button. These are relatively discreet additions, but they have clearly caused a serious malfunction on some devices.

The topic title " A56 5G stuck in startmode after firmware upgrade May 21", along with the testimonies published on Samsung's community forums, explicitly describe the situation: a complete freeze of the Galaxy A56 during a reboot. The device freezes on the home screen, making it impossible to access the system.

A temporary solution, found by users

Samsung has not yet officially commented on this malfunction. However, a workaround allows the Galaxy to wake up from its stupor. You have to turn it off, remove the SIM card, turn it back on without it, and then reinsert the card once the system has loaded. This method, shared by several users, seems to work in all cases. It remains for Samsung to identify the exact cause of the problem in order to correct it.

Note that other A series models, such as the Galaxy A36 and A26, have also received this update. But so far, owners of these models have not reported a similar incident. By the way, if you own a Samsung Galaxy A, you can find the list of all models not eligible for One UI 7 in a previous article.
