As one of the most pre-ordered games on the PlayStation Store, Ghost of Yotei is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated titles of the end of 2025. In the absence of GTA 6, which has been confirmed to be delayed until next year, Sucker Punch's new game should indeed have all the room it needs to thrive, five years after the release of the highly acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima. And if you enjoyed the adventures of Jin Sakai, then get ready. Because according to Shuhei Yoshida, this sequel promises to be even better.
Shuhei Yoshida praises Ghost of Yotei
"With Ghost of Tsushima, there was an incredible feeling with the controller in your hands. And having played Ghost of Yotei at several stages of its development, I can assure you that it will be even better and that Sucker Punch will do it again," he said in an exclusive interview for PlayStation Inside. Given how much of a slap the first one was for some, it's safe to say that fans are impatient to discover the sequel. Far from stopping there, the former president of PlayStation Indies also took the opportunity to explain what he believes contributes to the franchise's recipe for success: respect for the culture it draws inspiration from. Yoshida doesn't just say he's won over by Ghost of Yotei, he also praises the work done on the entire franchise. "Regarding Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch worked a lot with a Japanese producer from SIE, as well as with colleagues from Japan Studio. This helped the studio a lot because the developers could show them ideas, and these Japanese people would tell them internally if it was respectful of Japan, if it was correct or not," explains Yoshida. "The teams also went to the island of Tsushima and made a real effort to immerse themselves in its history and customs," he recalls.
A highly anticipated game for the end of the year
"They managed to capture this very special feeling of the island that is felt in the game. That's why I think it's so successful. " he concludes. And given his comments about his controller experience, there's no doubt we can expect just as much care in Ghost of Yotei. A game that, it goes without saying, will undoubtedly be compared to Assassin's Creed Shadows, which came out earlier this year.
In any case, this only bodes well for the future of Sucker Punch, which has definitely earned itself a special place in the hearts of gamers thanks to Ghost of Tsushima. Let us remind you, however, if necessary, that Ghost of Yotei will feature a brand new protagonist in an adventure taking place more than three hundred years after the events of the first game. It will therefore be an experience accessible to all, including newcomers, which will be available exclusively on PS5 from October 2nd.
