Since the announcement of its delay, which was made three weeks ago, GTA 6 has been the talk of the town. Indeed, beyond the reactions to the incredible trailer 2 and the numerous pieces of information that accompanied it, the Rockstar Games title continues to be the subject of a multitude of speculations of all kinds. One of these is, in particular, that it's not impossible that the game will be delayed once again, much to the dismay of the industry. The boss of Take-Two Interactive, however, wants to be reassuring on the subject.
Take-Two is confident about the release date of GTA 6
During an interview with the media IGN, Strauss Zelnick actually decided to respond to the public's concerns with the following statement: "I think that historically, when we have set a specific release date, we have generally been able to respect it." Therefore, according to him, there would be no real reason to worry about GTA 6, which should indeed be released on May 26, 2026 as announced. Not to mention that, according to his words, the game's development is still very well underway.
"As we get closer to completing a title that strives for perfection, the need, or lack thereof, for continued polishing becomes evident," he said. "In the case [of GTA 6], we felt it was possible, with a little extra time, to ensure that Rockstar Games realized its creative vision without any limitations. And I, of course, supported this approach," Zelnick concluded. As you can see, the delay of GTA 6 seems to be more linked to an extreme attention to detail than to any delay in development.
A word of caution
This should reassure fans who are already starting to worry about a possible second delay. That being said, as always in this kind of situation, let's remember that we never know what tomorrow will bring. Despite his apparent self-confidence, this wouldn't be the first time that Strauss Zelnick has been wrong in his statements. We recently saw this, for example, with Judas, the new game from the creator of BioShock, which has given no sign of life even though it should have already been released, according to the Take-Two boss. Let's hope things will be different for GTA 6, then.
