The MCU's first superhero, Iron Man, is still waiting for a game worthy of the name. The announcement in 2022 of a title dedicated to the man of iron, developed by Motive Studios under the supervision of Electronic Arts, had piqued the curiosity of fans. However, the game has been relatively quiet... At least until now. Indeed, a recent job offer published by EA reveals new information about the project.
Upcoming Marvel Games Under the Microscope
In cinemas, Marvel is starting to regain its color with a Thunderbolts* which has won over both critics and audiences, and with the next two Avengers films which are shaping up to be potential box office hits. In recent years, the company has also seriously set foot in the video game world with quality titles like the two Spider-Man games from Insomniac Games or the very underrated Guardians of the Galaxy. Aware of the potential of this industry, Marvel is now very active in this area, and it will be even more so in the future.
The next MCU films are promising, and the same can be said for upcoming video games. Marvel's Wolverine from Insomniac Games is highly anticipated, but aside from a teaser in 2021 and a few leaks, there isn't much to get your teeth into. Another anticipated game that will also require patience is Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. Developed by Skydance Games, it was initially planned for this year before being pushed back to 2026. We can also mention Arkane Lyon's Blade, but again, information is scarce. Finally, EA remains with its famous Iron Man, which is finally starting to be revealed.
EA provides information on the Iron Man game
Among the studios mentioned above, EA occupies a special place, having partnered with Marvel for several productions. One of these is Iron Man, a game that has remained almost completely silent since its announcement in 2022. This changed recently with the studio, which, by publishing a job posting for a Level Designer position, revealed some details about the project. According to the mentioned elements, Iron Man is shaping up to be a AAA single-player Action-RPG game.
The information given in the job posting is quite promising. We're already imagining the possibility of flying through an open world while upgrading our armor between missions. In fact, we dream of an Anthem that would work. EA will likely reuse elements of the latter for Iron Man, and that wouldn't be a bad thing, given how enticing the initial concept of Anthem was.
