Judas: BioShock's successor has missed its release date, and there's no news. What's going on?

Do you remember Judas? No, we're not talking about the religious figure or the Lady Gaga song, but rather a video game. You know, the one by BioShock creator Ken Levine, which was announced at the 2022 Game Awards? Did you forget? It's hard to blame you, because we can't say that the communication surrounding the title has been very prolific. The proof is that it appears that the game has been the victim of an internal postponement, and no one seems to have noticed.

Judas should normally already be out

In February 2023, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, had indeed indicated in a quarterly report that the company planned to release no less than 87 games by March 2025. On that occasion, he also confirmed that Judas was one of them. And clearly, he was rather confident about this schedule. But now here we are a month after the fateful date, still without the slightest news of the game.

Suffice to say, therefore, that we are indeed dealing with a case of internal postponement. Because the fact is that apart from Zelnick's statements, no release date had been communicated by the studio. It must also be said that the latter seems to be facing a somewhat chaotic development. This is in any case what journalist Jason Schreier revealed a few years ago, in a report indicating that Ken Levine's management would be at the origin of several burnouts among developers.

New information for the game soon?

The big question now is whether we will soon have the opportunity to hear about the title again. Because since his last appearance at a State of Play in early 2024, it's safe to say that things have been pretty quiet. That being said, with the summer conferences approaching, we're not immune to Judas's return to the news. After all, now that GTA 6 has been delayed, there may be a spot to be filled in Take-Two's schedule for the end of 2025.
