The manga Jujutsu Kaisen concluded in September 2024 with its 271st chapter. Since then, fans have been clinging to the anime, whose season 3 is still awaited. However, they will be treated to a new film this May, which is also displayed in a new illustration.
Jujutsu Kaisen: A Season 3 That Doesn't Arrive
It's safe to say that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 shocked viewers. It covered two of the most fan-favorite, but also the most painful, arcs: the Hidden Treasure / Untimely Death arc and the now-famous Shibuya arc. Anime-only fans have been waiting for the sequel for two years, and unfortunately for them, they might have to wait a little longer.
MAPPA has had numerous opportunities to announce Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, or at least to provide updates about it. This was the case at AnimeJapan 2025, where the animation studio was indeed present, but didn't provide any information about it. On the other hand, the promotion around the film scheduled for this year is rather intense, as evidenced by a new illustration of Gojo and Geto created for the occasion.
Gojo and Geto appear in a new illustration
Right now, the big event of the year for Jujutsu Kaisen is the release of the film scheduled for May 30 in Japan. Since we are in the final stretch, the official X account of the anime took the opportunity to share a new image of Gojo and Geto. Note that this one is part of a larger selection, since it is part of a countdown. We invite you to follow the account on X to discover new promotional images daily.

Regarding the film itself, it's a recap of the Hidden Treasure / Untimely Death arc. This may disappoint many fans, but in reality, it's a process that works well, as proven by the success of Attack on Titan: The Final Strike, also produced by MAPPA. The studio, accustomed to this type of production, seems to want to use it again in order to offer fans lower-cost content while keeping them waiting for season 3. In any case, revisiting the past of Gojo, Geto, and Toji Fushiguro (impossible not to mention him) on the big screen should draw crowds. It remains to be seen if the film will be shown in our theaters.
