Mario Kart World Confirms Return of Unexpected Feature

Mario Kart World Confirms Return of Unexpected Feature

Each new day that passes brings us a little closer to the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2 and, with it, a multitude of highly anticipated games. Among the lot is of course Mario Kart World, which will mark the true return of the franchise for the first time since Mario Kart 8. And for the occasion, Nintendo has not done things by halves. Because the least we can say is that this new opus has many surprises in store for us, and some of them are gradually starting to be revealed.

Mario Kart World unveils a gameplay mechanic

Indeed, it is through its Nintendo Today application that the company presented one of the new gameplay mechanics of Mario Kart World: the use of binoculars. Illustrated through a short gameplay sequence of around thirty seconds, it reveals how the player will be able to, from stations present in the open world, gain height and observe the surroundings. Enough to clearly identify the terrain, and above all to more easily unearth secrets and other hidden elements that the map contains.

Thanks to this, the Japanese firm proves to us once again that at Nintendo, nothing is ever lost. Because connoisseurs will undoubtedly have noticed, but this is a gameplay mechanic directly inherited from Super Mario 3D Land, which also allowed the use of binoculars to observe the surroundings of the levels. A mechanic that therefore has its place in a game like Mario Kart World which, let us remember, will be the first installment of the series to offer a free playground.

More videos coming?

And the good news is that this gameplay clip seems to be the first in a series of several videos to come. Because while Nintendo hasn't given any further details on the subject, its title, namely "Binocular View of the World #1", speaks for itself. It remains to be seen whether we can expect to discover other new game mechanics, or if this will simply be a small tour of the owner intended to present the Mario Kart World map before its release. The answer will be in the coming days. As a reminder, the game will arrive on June 5th.
