The release of Mario Kart World is approaching, and Nintendo is starting to show a little more. After surprising fans with the announcement of an open world and new types of gameplay, the publisher is revealing a little more about another new addition: a photo mode. And the least we can say is that this new system is likely to please content creators and fans of beautiful screenshots alike.
A requested mode, finally in Mario Kart
In a series of new screenshots shared on social media, Nintendo reveals what players will be able to do in this integrated photo mode in Mario Kart World. During exploration phases in the open world, it will be possible to pause the game at any time to enter an image editor. On the program, multiple frames, visual filters, freedom over camera angles… in short, enough to immortalize your best skids or your fun moments with friends.
This isn't the first time that a Nintendo game offers a photo mode, but seeing it arrive in Mario Kart is a small revolution. The license has always focused on immediate fun, but with this new version, we feel that the publisher is also looking to encourage the sharing of content on social networks. It's clever. Especially since Mario Kart World will offer a Free Roam mode, that is to say, free exploration in varied environments. A way to make each session unique… and very photogenic.
A game designed for the Switch 2
Remember that Mario Kart World will be released at the same time as the Nintendo Switch 2, on June 5, 2025. It will even be one of the flagship launch titles for the new console. Between its open world, its vehicles capable of driving on water, its omni-movement (announced as a new gameplay feature), and now its photo mode, Mario Kart World seems determined to shake up the series' habits. And it seems to be working.
