While the cost of living has risen sharply in recent years, both for stocking the fridge and buying electronics, you can count on French mobile operators to save a few euros per month. Ariase has published its monthly barometer of telecom prices for May 2025, and the price of mobile plans has never been this low since the comparison site began its analyses in December 2020.

For the first time, the average monthly cost of a mobile plan with unlimited voice calls and texts and at least 20 GB of internet was less than 10 euros in May 2025. Such an offer costs on average 9.84 euros per month, down 27.1% year-on-year (13.51 euros). And for the same package, you had to pay an average of 17.18 euros in May 2023.

More affordable prices on mobile and landline offers

“This marker reflects increased competition in the mobile phone market. Operators are responding to each other forcefully, and each initiative leads to a repositioning of competing offers,” explains Ariase. RED by SFR, Bouygues Telecom, Free, and Sosh stand out for their low-cost subscriptions, while Orange and SFR are much more expensive, still relying on the subsidized smartphone model.

Fiber internet subscriptions are also seeing their average price decrease. It drops to 26.36 euros, a drop of 10% compared to May 2024. However, this is not a record, since this price was 26.30 euros in March 2025. With the launches of the Freebox Pop S and the SFR Starter box without TV, all ISPs now offer an entry-level offer without a TV decoder.

In this little game, RED by SFR is the cheapest, at 20.99 euros on average. Sosh, Bouygues Telecom, SFR and Free follow in a close second, while Orange is by far the most expensive with an average cost of 32.53 euros. Keep an eye out for promotions; we are in a good period to take out a new landline or mobile subscription.
