A new Honor folding smartphone has just appeared in official documents. This model could break a record with a battery larger than those of its competitors.
Folding smartphones continue to evolve, particularly in terms of their battery life, long considered their weak point. Until now, manufacturers had to choose between thinness, performance, and a large battery. But the latest models seek to push these limits while maintaining a more compact format.
Honor's next folding smartphone has just passed certification bodies in China, a mandatory step before its release. It could be called the Magic V5, as the number 4 is often avoided in this country for cultural reasons. One thing is certain: this model boasts an exceptional battery capacity for a foldable device. The manufacturer seems to want to seriously compete with Oppo, Vivo, and Samsung on this point.
The Honor Magic V5's battery exceeds 6,000 mAh
According to MIIT and 3C documents, the smartphone bears the model number MBH-AN10. It would be equipped with two internal batteries totaling 5,950 mAh in nominal capacity. In typical capacity, the one communicated to the public, it would therefore exceed 6,000 mAh. This is much more than competing models like the Vivo X Fold3 Pro or the Oppo Find N5, while remaining in a compact folding format. For comparison, the future Galaxy Z Flip 7 would only offer 4,300 mAh, while the Z Fold 7 would remain around 4,400 mAh. This difference could offer significantly greater autonomy for the Magic V5, which represents a real advantage in everyday use.
However, Honor does not seem to be upgrading the charging speed. Like the older models, this Magic V5 would remain limited to a power of 66 W in wired charging. This is enough for typical use, but some competing models already offer higher speeds, up to 100W. It remains to be seen whether the brand will compensate for this with better software management of the battery. The official presentation of this smartphone could take place as early as this summer, as with previous versions. The manufacturer could then announce a global release at IFA in Berlin, as was the case with the Magic V3. Until then, other leaks could still reveal elements about the screen or performance.
