Monster Hunter Wilds announces huge changes are coming, it promises to be good

To mark the fourth month since its release, Monster Hunter Wilds will be updated to version 1.011 on May 28, 2025. While it won't be as major as a Title Update, it will still include significant changes to Capcom's latest flagship title. At least, that's what we learned in an open letter from Yuya Tokuda, the game's director. He also took the opportunity to share a few words about the second Title Update coming later this summer. Let's take a closer look at all of this.

Tons of new things coming imminently to Monster Hunter Wilds

"Here comes a new collaboration"...

Building on the global success of Monster Hunter Wilds since its release, Capcom intends to properly feed its new best-seller with content to motivate hunters of all stripes to return. Very immediately, this will take the form of update 1.011, coming no later than tomorrow, May 28, 2025. This will bring "an abundance of new features and changes to the game."

First of all, Monster Hunter Wilds will welcome its first major collaboration with another cult Capcom license, and more specifically with Street Fighter 6. In this area, we will be able to unlock by completing the "Ultimate Force" event quest a complete armor linked to Akuma, as well as a cosmetic set to embody the legendary fighter without changing our own equipment. By equipping one or the other, we will also have access to new actions in the item bar:

  • Akuma Assist Combo: which will allow us to launch different actions after a combo
  • Drive Impact: as in Street Fighter 6, a Drive bar will fill up, with the possibility of launching powerful attacks

The Monster Hunter Wilds x Street Fighter 6 event will also add a Blanka-Chan outfit for our Palico. Finally, an add-on, this time paid, will allow you to equip Alma with outfits in reference to Chun-Li or Cammy, as well as pendants and other cosmetic items.

... and new challenges

In addition to this collaboration with Street Fighter 6, Monster Hunter Wilds also intends to get down to business with update 1.011. This will also add a bunch of Alpha monsters to the 8-star monster rank, the highest difficulty level of the game's hunts at the moment, and thus enter this prestigious tier:

  • Rey Dau
  • Uth Duna
  • Nu Udra
  • Jin Dahaad
  • Gore Magala

Yuya Tokuda also warns us that the eight-star Gore Magala may make even the most seasoned hunters tremble. Little by little, the difficulty increases crescendo in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Balance, new features and more fixes for Monster Hunter Wilds

The good news doesn't stop there for the new features coming in Monster Hunter Wilds update 1.011. Its director has announced a slight balance increase for the hunting horn, the cannon launcher, the hammer and the light and heavy crossbows. Capcom is also taking the opportunity to make some significant quality of life changes, such as the ability to rest at the Grand Camp and Suja, or the removal of the confirmation window when picking up an item when your bag is full.

Finally, fans of endemic life will be delighted to learn that with this update to Monster Hunter Wilds they will be able to see the small creatures captured, for the moment unfortunately only via a menu, and therefore proudly display them around their tent. Maybe next time? For full details on this very large update coming on May 28, 2025, visit this page, or via the second source below.

Teasing for the upcoming Title Update 2

Speaking of next time, the open letter from the director of Monster Hunter Wilds presents us with some of the big changes to coming in Title Update 2, scheduled for this summer, the next major update to the game. In addition to the Lagiacrus, which will be the next major monster added to the game for free. However, it will not come alone, with the promise of the addition of another Supreme Alpha monster after the Rey Dau, as well as the addition of other monsters at the 8-star difficulty level.

Similarly, other balancing will still be expected, with particular attention a priori paid to the hammer, as well as the dual blades. Finally, other quality of life adjustments and new features should naturally arrive in Title Update 2 of Monster Hunter Wilds, notably concerning the Seikret, the possibility of seeing the details of our equipment's talents with the press of a single button, and especially the highly anticipated feature allowing us to finally change the appearance of our weapons. Since this update should arrive this summer, Capcom should not delay in presenting all this to us in more detail very soon.
