Motorola unveils two new phones for its affordable Moto G range. These are the Moto G86 and Moto G56. 5G compatible, these two phones share the beautiful design of the Edge and benefit from a price that's accessible to all. And those aren't their only assets. We present them to you in detail.
We're often won over by Motorola's high-end products. Whether in the Edge range or the Razr range. The 2024 Edge 50 Ultra is one of our favorite smartphones of 2024. And the Razr 60 Ultra carries over virtually all of its predecessor's strengths, including its excellent external display. But the American brand earned its stripes in the affordable segment with the Moto G, phones that combined a comprehensive spec sheet, a seamless experience, and an affordable price.

While they get less buzz than the Edge and Razr, the Moto G still has something to say for anyone looking for functional, but not overpriced, products. The proof is in the two new models that Motorola has just unveiled: the Moto G86 and Moto G56. Their suggested retail prices are 349 euros and 279 euros, respectively. And for that amount, you get a beautiful phone, featuring the Edge design with a camera module elegantly integrated into the body, and a comprehensive spec sheet.
Motorola's two new smartphones are rugged, stylish, and affordable
Let's start with the Moto G85. This phone doesn't have much to envy the Edge 60 Fusion we tested in early spring. It must be said that they're only about fifty euros apart. The similarity is therefore logical. It's even quite significant since practically all the elements of their spec sheets are shared. Among the differences, the most important are the ultra-wide-angle sensor and the power of the fast charge. Here are the key facts about the Moto G86:
- 6.7-inch 120Hz Super HD pOLED display
- Gorilla Glass 7i on the front
- Dimensity 7300 processor
- 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage expandable via microSDXC
- 5300mAh battery compatible with 30-watt fast charging
- 50MP main sensor, lens f/1.88 aperture with autofocus and optical stabilization
- 32 MP selfie sensor, f/2.2 aperture lens
- Dual speaker
- Dolby Atmos compatible, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4
- Android 15
- IP69 and MIL-STD-810H certified
The second model is the Moto G56. The successor to the Moto G55, it shares the same specifications as the Moto G86, but makes some concessions to further reduce the price and go below 300 euros. You get protection against water and everyday knocks, RAM, storage, front and rear cameras, Dolby Atmos compatibility, fast charging, and virtually the same battery. The concessions are in the display, connectivity, main camera module (no more stabilizer), and processor. Here are the things you need to know about the Moto G56:
- 6.72-inch 120 Hz LCD screen
- Gorilla Glass 7i on the front
- Dimensity 7060 processor
- 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage expandable by microSDXC
- 5200 mAh battery compatible with 30 watt fast charging
- 50 MP main sensor, wide-angle lens f/1.88 with autofocus
- 32 MP selfie camera, f/2.2 aperture lens
- Dual speakers
- Supports Dolby Atmos, WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.3
- Android 15
- IP69 and MIL-STD-810H certification
Here are two rather elegant phones, colorful to break up the monotony, resistant to the hassles of everyday life, and offering a rather complete experience. Both smartphones are available in four colors each. They will be on sale in France during June. You will find them at all the usual retailers.
