The setbacks seem to be piling up for Nintendo. As we slowly but surely approach the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, the Japanese company continues to update information about its new console, which hasn't yet revealed all its secrets. And unfortunately, some of them aren't exactly pleasing players. As proof, after several days of uncertainty on the issue, Nintendo finally admitted that it had made a mistake regarding VRR support on the console.
No VRR on Nintendo Switch 2 in docked mode
Indeed, at the end of last week, some Internet users shared a surprising discovery on social networks, namely the disappearance of the mention of VRR on the pages dedicated to the docked version of the Nintendo Switch 2. Inevitably, this raised many questions, to which the manufacturer decided to respond through an official statement on the Nintendo Life website. The opportunity, then, to confirm that it was indeed an error on its part, which explains why the mention was finally removed.
"The Nintendo Switch 2 only supports VRR in portable mode. Incorrect information was initially published on the [console] website, and we apologize for this error." Suffice it to say that this is once again a bit of a shock for some of the public, especially given that this new machine is particularly anticipated for its technological contributions. But does this mean that we should completely forget about VRR in docked mode? Not sure.
Only a temporary absence?
And for good reason, Nintendo Life naturally took the opportunity to ask Nintendo if we could still expect to see things evolve through a future update. Their response: "We have nothing to announce on this subject". So, sure, it may not be a yes, but it's not a categorical no either. In fact, the hope of seeing VRR arrive in docked mode on Nintendo Switch 2 in the future is not completely dead. But as it stands, one thing is certain: we will not be able to count on it at the launch, on June 5th.
