The GeForce RTX 50 Series have invaded the gaming laptop market in recent weeks, but these mobile versions of NVIDIA's next-generation graphics cards suffer from a rather frustrating problem for users: they sometimes offer performance below expectations, due to a power consumption limit that differs in practice from that announced by the manufacturer. Fortunately, NVIDIA has corrected the problem with the latest version of its GeForce Game Ready graphics drivers.
Too limited power consumption in Boost mode
Some tests of laptops equipped with a mobile GeForce RTX 50 Series have indeed shown that the performance of the graphics part was not up to scratch, with the actual maximum power consumption of the GPU being visibly limited to a value lower than the theoretical TGP. The models that on paper had a maximum power consumption of 175W did not even reach 170W in practice; although slight, this difference is enough to make the graphics chipset lose a few dozen megahertz in Boost mode.
Fortunately, NVIDIA has corrected this problem with its GeForce 576.52 graphics drivers. In addition to providing a few other bug fixes in various applications and games (F1 23, F1 24, Diablo II Resurrected, SCUM or Lumion 12), these drivers now allow the mobile versions of the RTX 50 Series to reach their maximum power consumption, and therefore their optimal level of performance. The latest version of GeForce Game Ready drivers can be downloaded directly from the manufacturer's website, or through its NVIDIA App.
