One Piece: The anime breaks this sad record and provokes the anger of fans

The return of the One Piece anime was a resounding success, with fans eagerly awaiting the continuation of Egghead's events. However, not everything is perfect. Indeed, the anime has set a dismal record, which echoes the many criticisms made by fans over the past few days.

One Piece: One of the Best Anime of 2025

One Piece fans are perhaps the luckiest in the world. The manga is in its final phase and offers high-quality chapters almost every week. Meanwhile, the anime returned last month after a six-month hiatus, and everyone agrees that the quality is there.

One Piece: The anime breaks this sad record and provokes the anger of fans

The One Piece anime has some of the best animation of the beginning of the year. Viewers were particularly impressed by the fight between Luffy and Kizaru, even if some fans expressed reservations. This slight disappointment, however, hides a greater one. Indeed, Toei Animation recently released the episode broadcast schedule and one detail was not appreciated: a recap episode was planned instead of the 1129th, on May 11. This caused some teeth to grind, and even more so after the episode aired.

One Piece: The final episode angered fans

Episode 1128 left us with Saturn's arrival on Egghead and Bonney's intervention. For many, it was one of the best episodes of One Piece. But after such a high, the fall was even more brutal with the following episode. In it, Chopper and Carrot recap everything we know about Bonney and Kuma, in order to prepare viewers for episode 1129, which focuses on the latter's past. Result: This recap episode set a sad record for the anime, becoming the least liked episode of 2025 with more thumbs down than up on Crunchyroll.

A good portion of the fans are angry. For good reason, recap episodes are generally the most hated, as evidenced by their ratings on IMDB. In the case of the Egghead arc, the frustration is even greater, as fans do not understand why after six months of absence the anime is already taking a break. However, this must be seen as a blessing in disguise. Maintaining such a high level of animation requires breaks to refine the work. So, there is no doubt that episode 1129 will be exceptional and that it will quickly make us forget this small inconvenience.
