Palworld does not admit defeat to Nintendo

Since its launch, Palworld has been the talk of the town in 2024. First for its “Pokémon with guns” concept, then for its immense popularity, before making headlines due to a heated lawsuit with Nintendo. Its entire gameplay and design are being questioned by the Big N, which claims that it is a pure and simple plagiarism of its Pokémon franchise.

However, despite the setbacks, the Pocketpair studio has no intention of letting its game die out. The latest decision, namely the removal of the ability to glide while riding a Pal, has been a real blow to the developers. Implemented in early May 2025 in update 0.3.11, this change followed legal pressure related to the ongoing trial. From now on, only classic gliders are authorized... officially.

Modders in action

Unofficially, PC gamers are playing it smarter. Indeed, a modder named Primarinabee has already posted a solution: the Glider Restoration Mod, available on Nexus Mods, allows nostalgic players to rediscover the sensations of creature-assisted flight and not an identityless glider. The mod circumvents the removal by relying on a technical subterfuge, while requiring players to keep a glider in their inventory.

A DLC coming to Palworld

And if the players haven't said their last word, neither has Pocketpair. In parallel with this unofficial restoration, the studio has chosen to focus on novelty and maintaining its community. This is how he announced a crossover as surprising as it is intriguing: Palworld will welcome an update this summer called Tides of Terraria, in collaboration with the famous sandbox game Terraria. While the name of the update suggests an aquatic theme, the content remains unclear.

The first information speaks of the possibility of “capturing, training, fighting and putting to work” monsters from Terraria, just like Pals. This partnership will be rolled out across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, demonstrating that Pocketpair doesn't want to confine itself to the PC gaming niche or be defined by its legal disputes.
