In May, don't miss these 3 indie games

In May, do what you like, but above all, play indie games. It doesn't quite rhyme, but at least your heart is in it. This month, gamers are slowly but surely preparing for the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, the major event of 2025. That's why few games are expected in advance, although DOOM The Dark Ages is the exception that proves the rule.

If you can still be tempted by the AAA games soon to be available on PC and consoles, we recommend you take a look at the indie games, which are numerous in May. Here are three games that we recommend you try if you haven't already.

The Midnight Walk

Do you like Guillermo Del Toro-style atmospheres? The Midnight Walk might be for you. This is a small indie game made in stop motion in which you play as a clay lantern trying to find its way through the darkness. Its nightmarish settings and characters also remind us of the Little Nightmares saga. It's a single-player game that will touch your inner child on PS5, PC and even Steam Deck since the title is "verified". Some already love its original graphics, while others praise its surprisingly innovative gameplay.

The Precinct

Tired of waiting for GTA 6? The Precinct offers you an independent alternative that is almost as enjoyable. In this game, you play as the Averno City police force, and you hunt down criminals in your car using all possible means. Available in sandbox mode, the title also has a gripping story that will have you chasing after chases. The most fun part is that you can drive a car, a truck, and even a helicopter. It's now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X as well.

Desktop Survivors 98

The latest game isn't out yet, but it'll be in our cart day one. Desktop Survivor 98 is a retro indie game that mixes action and computer nostalgia. Highly original in its form, it transforms your Windows 98 desktop into a chaotic battlefield. The player embodies an armed cursor, facing waves of pixelated enemies representing viruses, pop-ups, and corrupted icons. Its Vampire Survivors-style mode of operation makes its very 90s aesthetic extremely modern and in tune with the times. It will only be available on PC from May 20.
