Spotify is finally rolling out the update everyone has been waiting for!

Tired of hearing the same song everywhere on Spotify? Good news: the platform is currently testing a feature called "30-Day Snooze" with its Premium subscribers. It allows you to temporarily remove a song from personalized recommendations. The idea isn't to ban it permanently, but simply to give yourself a healthy break.

A button to give your ears a breather

This Snooze button appears when a user chooses to hide a song from a playlist via the "Hide from this playlist" option. Spotify then adds an additional choice: "Don't recommend this track for 30 days." The option will apply to all automatically generated playlists, such as Discover Weekly or Smart Shuffle.

This new feature comes with a stronger "Hide" button, which now works on all the user's devices, not just the one used at the time of the action. In other words, no more deleting the same song on mobile and computer.

Spotify is taking the opportunity to roll out other adjustments designed to improve the listening experience for its Premium users. Starting with a redesign of the queue interface, which is now more readable and enhanced with shortcuts to the Shuffle, Smart Shuffle, Repeat, and Sleep Timer functions.

Another new feature: the ability to preview the recommendations that Spotify plans to play once the queue is full. This allows you to keep control over what reaches your ears.

When it comes to creating playlists, the platform is making things simpler: on mobile, the Add, Sort, and Edit buttons now appear at the very top of each playlist. A "Create" function at the bottom right of the screen makes it easy to create a new playlist, share it with friends, or join an existing one. Premium subscribers can also activate real-time sessions (Jam function) or experiment with playlists generated by artificial intelligence.

Users in certain countries, including France, can now transform their library of "liked" tracks into playlists based on musical genre. This feature is being tested in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

With this batch of new features, Spotify recognizes that its algorithms can sometimes be too insistent. Some users complain, for example, of hearing the same track in several automatically generated playlists, to the point of becoming disgusted. The Snooze button is therefore a simple way, without definitive consequences, to say "not now."
