Surprise, this game is playable 3 days before its official release

2025 is a busy year for video game releases. While GTA 6 recently announced its delay to next year, other games are surprising us by being available even before their official release date. This is the case of Revenge of the Savage Planet, the sequel to Journey to the Savage Planet, which is already playable.

The Raccoon Logic studio has announced that the Cosmic Hoarder Edition gives access to the game 3 days before its official release on May 8th. This means that those who pre-ordered this version can already explore the hostile and verdant environments of the alien planet. Don't wait any longer if you bought Revenge of the Savage Planet on PS5, Xbox Series, or PC.

The title, despite coming from an independent studio, aims to offer you a premium exploration and survival experience. Some players may remember the development issues of the first title in the franchise, which Raccoon Logic has since tried to erase. Journey to the Savage Planet was originally a Stadia game, developed by Typhoon Studios, before being practically abandoned by its teams.

Plagued by all kinds of bugs, the title was completely unplayable for weeks, before former developers from the studio decided to form Raccoon Logic, hoping to save the project by regaining the intellectual property from the Google subsidiary. Revenge of the Savage Planet has been in development since at least 2021.

New challenges to face together

The second title in the saga retains the same soul as the first, with shimmering settings, bright colors, and graphics almost as cute as those of Astroneer. It doesn't have the ambition of a No Man's Sky in its open world, but we still note that there are 4 different planets to explore and that each of them has very specific characteristics.

The goal of the game is to explore every nook and cranny, obtain valuable knowledge, and do everything possible to get revenge on your employer on Earth after they fired you. You can analyze, climb, and even tame certain alien animal species to achieve your goal. Those who haven't gotten their hands on the Cosmic Hoarder Edition of this opus will have to wait until May 8th to discover Revenge of the Savage Planet, either solo or in local co-op.
