Cooking at home, more healthily, without spending hours: this is the promise of the new appliance launched by Philips, the Airfryer Series 5000. While appliances of this type have already been very successful for years, and are tending to become more widespread in most homes, this model is very different for one very simple reason. Sold for €259.99, it not only makes crispy fries with little oil, but also offers gentle steam cooking. All in a family-sized format that is very easy to use.
The idea is to combine two often opposing cooking methods in a single appliance: steam (ideal for preserving vitamins and the tenderness of vegetables, fish or rice) and hot air cooking to obtain a beautiful crispy texture, like with an oven or a fryer, but with up to 90% less fat.
To achieve this, Phillips uses users have two baskets of different sizes available – one of 6 liters, the other of 3 liters – which will allow them to cook a main dish and a side dish at the same time, and above all, to finish them at the same time thanks to the synchronization function. This is therefore a real saving of time, space, but also energy. Indeed, Philips announces cooking 40% faster than a traditional oven, for 70% less energy consumption.
When the advantages multiply
Those who know a thing or two about cleaning know that steam has other benefits than preserving vitamins. The Airfryer 5000 Seriesoffers simplified maintenance thanks to a special steam mode (Steam Clean) that automatically removes grease and residue. No more scrubbing for hours to remove food scraps from the compartments.
On the practical side, the HomeID app, compatible with the appliance, gives access to hundreds of pre-set recipes. It even features dishes created by chef Cyril Lignac, for those looking for daily inspiration.
This Airfryer is aimed at both families and people who want to cook healthier without too many constraints. Whether you're a fan of batch cooking, have little time, or are a beginner in the kitchen, the Series 5000 steamer offers a complete and accessible solution, although its price could put off more than one consumer.
