The PS6 already has its first major exclusive that's causing a stir

We already knew that Physint, Hideo Kojima's next game, would be ambitious. But the Japanese creator's latest statements leave little room for doubt; the game now seems to be designed as a PS6 exclusive. While some were still hoping for a cross-gen title between PS5 and PS6, this hypothesis is becoming less and less credible.

A project tailored for the next generation, the PS6

In a recent interview with a French media outlet (Le Film Français), Kojima confirmed that Physint will still take at least five to six years of development. In other words, no release before 2030, or even beyond. A timing that coincides with the expected arrival of Sony's future PS6 console, already hinted at by several industry analysts.

In his remarks, Kojima also emphasizes the technological ambitions of the project. When it was announced in January 2024, he already spoke of a next-generation action/espionage game, developed with cutting-edge technologies and talent from around the world.

Another Sony exclusive?

What also reinforces the idea of a PS6 exclusive is Sony's strong support in Physint's development. After Death Stranding and its upcoming sequel, the collaboration between Kojima Productions and PlayStation seems stronger than ever. We can therefore expect the game to benefit from the technical capabilities of the future PS6 console, or even be designed specifically to take advantage of it, as was the case with Death Stranding on PS4 at the time.

True to his habits, Hideo Kojima prefers to take his time building his universes. After Death Stranding 2, expected on PS5 in 2025, he seems to want to devote himself fully to this new PS6 project, closer in spirit to his previous work in infiltration and espionage. Wait and see, things could still change between now and then.
