Samsung is preparing to launch its new folding smartphone, the Galaxy Z Flip 7. But one piece of technical information is already causing some concern. Some European users may not appreciate the difference.
Folding smartphones continue to attract attention, and Samsung remains the undisputed leader in this segment. The Galaxy Z Flip 7, successor to the Z Flip 6, is expected in the coming weeks. It promises improvements in design, hinge, and performance. But information spotted in a database has cast a shadow over this rise in popularity. This would be the chip that equips the model intended for Europe: an Exynos 2500 processor. And its performance is already disappointing even before the official release.
According to a technical sheet spotted on Geekbench, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with Exynos 2500 chip displays a score of 2,012 in single-core and 7,563 in multi-core. For comparison, the Galaxy S25 with Snapdragon 8 Elite achieves around 3,220 and 10,223 points. The gap is therefore clear, and some Internet users believe that Samsung is trying to save money in Europe. As a benchmark, Apple's A14 chip released in 2020 does barely better on a single core. An unflattering figure for a high-end smartphone in 2025.
The European Galaxy Z Flip 7 would be significantly less powerful than the American model
This is not the first time that Samsung has equipped its smartphones with two different processors depending on the region. Generally, Europe inherits an Exynos model while the United States benefits from a Snapdragon. But the power gap is becoming difficult to ignore. European customers could pay the same price for a less powerful phone. A strategy that is causing frustration and incomprehension among many fans of the brand. Especially since these differences are often not clearly announced at the time of purchase.
Fortunately, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 should feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip in all regions. But these results raise questions about the future of the Exynos range. Samsung is already planning to integrate the future Exynos 2600 into the Galaxy S26. If performance doesn't improve quickly, the brand could lose the trust of some of its loyal audience.
