The Gemini Assistant keeps getting better on Android. Google is working on a new feature that will make it easier to open from any app. No more need to go through unnecessary steps.
The Gemini assistant is everywhere in the Android universe, including in cars via Android Auto. It is gradually replacing the old Google Assistant with more natural responses and smoother operation. On mobile, the company has also revised its interface and added new features such as text creation, article summaries, and the Canvas tool for writing directly from the app. This AI is thus becoming a versatile tool, capable of adapting to different everyday uses, both in the car and while browsing on a smartphone. According to an analysis of the code of the latest beta version of the app spotted by Android Authority, a new feature should soon allow you to open Gemini directly in full screen from the floating interface. Currently, this option only appears after starting a conversation with the Assistant. This limits the use of this mode to a single context. With this new feature, Google is seeking to remove this limitation. The user could access the extended version of the AI without typing or saying anything, from any screen.
Google is preparing instant access to full-screen Gemini from any application
Google is reportedly planning the addition of a discreet bar at the top of the Gemini overlay. By swiping up on it, the assistant would instantly open in full screen. This gesture would work both from the home screen and from a current application. This makes accessing the interface more direct, even if the user is busy browsing another app. No need to make a prior request: full screen could be activated at any time, with a simple movement of the finger, without interrupting the user's activity.
The feature is not yet available to everyone, but its integration already seems well advanced. Google could enable it via a future update of the application. This improvement is part of a series of changes intended to make AI more present, but less intrusive. With instant access, Gemini becomes a truly multitasking tool, capable of adapting to current usage.
