For WWDC, which begins on June 9, Apple might be tempted to sweep its current minor problems (the woes of Siri and Apple Intelligence) under the rug and focus on an area the manufacturer has mastered perfectly: design. Rumor has already announced a serious refresh of the iOS, iPadOS, and macOS interfaces. But other operating systems would not be forgotten.
Mark Gurman reveals that the OS of the Apple TV and the Apple Watch will receive the same treatment. In other words, tvOS 19 and watchOS 12 should benefit from the same refinements expected in iOS 19, iPadOS 19 and macOS 16: more transparency, more modern... Internally called "Solarium", this new design would be largely inspired by visionOS - with adjustments obviously, we do not use the Vision Pro like a smartphone or a connected watch.
While the design of watchOS has constantly evolved, this is not the case for tvOS, whose interface has hardly changed for years. A little dusting off probably won't hurt, especially since new hardware is also very rare. The latest generation dates back to 2022, but perhaps Apple already has its hands full with this ever-mysterious connected screen.
By unveiling these new interfaces, Apple is still taking the risk of going against the grain of what is currently obsessing the industry: AI. We had a good example of this last week with Google I/O, entirely devoted to this technology.
